Fair season is coming up and one of the first ones is imm in Cologne. Already on January 14-18 we will be able to see the meet up at one of the largest fairs of the year.
imm in Cologne is always a good start for the new year. I will be there of course to look at the new furniture. I look forward to meet brands like Artifort, Fermob and Montis. And of course German brands like Blomus, Jan Kurtz and Rolf Benz.
Trendhunting at imm from previous years. This is a good spot to find new materials, new colours and simply new ways of living. imm approaches both contract market and private living, so there is a lot to cover. I am extra curious about new ways of combining work and life at home. Hope to find interesting solutions in January here.
The fair is clearly divided in three segments under the headlines Pure, Home and Sleep. Read more about these themes here.
A new theme for imm is that they work with rings or circles. Under the name “Connecting Communities” there are plenty of different round gatherings. There are talks, meeting spaces, restaurants etc that are all round. Perfect for networking and meetings. No sharp angles here.
Here is what imm says about the concept: “The Circles – the innovative concept behind imm cologne 2024 – is the link running throughout the entire event and gives the trade fair halls a unique appearance. The format made its debut at the imm Spring Edition and presents diverse content and event platforms that combine business, inspiration and networking. The circular areas from which the format takes its name will be connecting elements and places where trade fair participants can meet and converse. This holistic approach reflects the trade fair’s central theme – Connecting Communities – and fosters a sense of a whole industry coming together that goes far beyond a typical trade fair experience.”
I am doing an inspiration circle!! My friends Igor and Judith from Urban Jungle Bloggers are also doing one. I am working with my friend Elisabetta from Italianbark. The two of us talked about our space. How do you make a round, interesting area that is inspiring – but also on trend?
We actually started talking about this trend already in August. We have this trend with nice pastels and we want to encourage daydreaming. In this hard and harsh world we need something to make us daydream.
This is a picture from brand Kvadrat by Danh Vo. It represents a lot of the things Elisabetta and I see. This is tactile, transperent and makes you look up. We actuallt talk about dressing the ceiling.
Below you can see the first draft we did for imm. Have a seat, get a coffee or tea and look up.
If you want to know more about this installation, both Elisabetta and I will be in Cologne and at IMM. See you there.
