One of my absolute fair favourites every year is Christmasworld. Parallel to Ambiente in Frankfurt. It is seven or eight halls with pure fun. And my job is to read the signs and pinpoint what the trends are for the coming season. So here are the trends for Christmas 2025.
Lets go through the trends one by one. Favourites or not – these things will be everywhere.
Colour of Christmas 2025 – burgundy
The burgundy colour in matte or shiny, was all over the fair. Expect a lot of your Christmas ornaments to be in this colour. You can absolutely see it with a lot of purple or perhaps apricot.
A hint of peach
A colourful Santa
Santa is absolutely getting more colourful. The traditional Santa is gone and this new one is really a bit over the top.
And elves are booming.
Almost a troll like elf…
Muscle Santa
A bit Greek but still muscular.
A minimalistic Christmas
There is a minimalistic aesthetics to Christmas this year. Of course colourful, but there is an alternative. Here a tree made of ostrich feathers.
Minimalistic trees in various materials.
A lot of details in plain black.
And just playing with shapes.
Maximalism
There is also a maximalism to balance the minimalism. Here it’s like the designers just added more, and more and more…
Mushrooms on mushrooms and sequins and flower and more…
And last but not least – it’s the year of pets
Very often an animal gets reproduced for Christmas ornaments. It could be owls, squirrels or even tigers. And this year is all about the pets. Maybe a bit more dogs than cats – but there are plenty of each. Expect 2025 be the year of the Christmas pet.
Speaking of pets – yes, all pets are included. Even birds.

Oh, one last thing
It’s getting shinier. Almost lika synthetic and plasticy feeling.
And a super last thing… Chequers and graphical patterns. Kind of a Alice in Wonderland feeling. Lots of that too.
