Formland 2025

Danish interior design fair Formland brought optimism and colours. Are we seeing a new colour palette of yellow? Here is the trend report.

With 7 000 visitors and 270 brands exhibiting, Formland has established it self as one of the largest fairs in Scandinavia. I have no official numbers but the international crowd is growing. More Swedish exhibitors and I heard both a lot of Norwegian and English in the hallways. With a direct flight from London to Formland the cost is only about 40 euros.

Formland was nice. Large brands like Stelton, Blomus and Hübsch are here. But for us trendhunters – we’re here for the inspiration.

Yellows

First thing on my list of observations. Yellow. Lots and lots of yellow. It is a bit colder than usual. Top picture from the trend installation done by Studie Fly Helstedt. And just above here from Hübsch. Also note how this yellow matches with teal.

We absolutely see a darker and more normal yellow too. Here att Affari of Sweden.

Flowers

Maybe it is a new optimism growing? But regardless – I am seeing a lot more of flowers. Here at the trend installation.

Maximalism

At the trend installation we could see that there is a need to add more things. More is more. Or simply just add personality. Formland as a fair showed that not only at the trend installation but you could also find these things among the exhibitors.

Trend installation. It is interesting to note how the curators have added plenty of plates from their own home. More personality, please.

I just love these lamps. And they are a bit “much” with these pleates and folds. Olden, old style, but yet lovely.

Minimalism

Parallell to this maximalism is a new kind of minimalism. Both exist – but never meet…

Sustainability

Formland is also a fair where I always find new and innovative sustainable design. These marbled candle holders are produced so anyone can affor to sell it. By Soka Design Studio.

This was also nice. Textiles made of recycled textiles – mainly wool. There is no colour added so the colour come from original sources. From Munkloua.

Also this was great. These pieces of art was made from waste yarn at a carpet factory. Lovely. Brand is Amoulia

And of course with this ecclectic style – upcycled furniture are a nice find here. This is a cabinet at Jakobsdals.

Summary

This fair season is a bit strange to me. I will come back to that in some sort of summary later on. We are going through lots of  crises and challanges. And retail should be really hit hard. But somehow this industry manages to present something optimistic and fun. It could be colours, or flowers, or just ecclectic and strange settings. But it is fun. I like this.

Formland had a strong spring presentation. Usually the fall version is bigger – but this was bi enough. I am glad more and more international representation among exhibitors and visitors are here.

I must give Formland Spring 2025 pretty high scores. A four out of five? An eight out of ten? Yes. Let’s do that. It was a good start for interior design 2025.
