I have done a few reflections here on the blog about my impressions from Milan. I continue with something extra. I was invited to participate on an international blog tour organised by Design Diffusion with some of Europe’s most influential bloggers. We all went to Salone del Mobile together one day. Design Diffusion had made a selection of stands and brands that we were introduced to. Always interesting to meet brands and get to talk in a smaller crowd.
First stop was kitchen brand Poliform. Here I noted how the modular kitchen is growing. More flexibility.
Also proper cabinets. A real evidence that our kitchen and livingroom is really merging.
And say goodbye to white marble. Instead welcome brown stone.
At furniture brand Flou we learned that this bed designed by Vico Magistretti turned 40 years old.
The darker and more masculine colours were everywhere, and I really liked this lamp designed by them.
Continuing to Walter Knoll we noted the same darker drown with mustardy yellow. One of the overall trends I saw at the fair were these retro pieces. All mid-century.
One Italian brand I keep my eyes on, is Natuzzi. They are experimenting with “internet of things” and connectivity. Here Mary and Ula (from Interiors Design) is trying the new easy chairs. Note that the sidetable charges the phone and also how the phone can dim lights and adjust the seat according to mood.
Speaking of technology. Kartell displayed some new prototypes that caught my eye. Here a conference or kitchen table with induction parts so that you can work and cook at the same time.
Kartell also wanted to push the area for new materials. Perhaps as a future solution to all the plastics they are using. Here prototypes with wood veneer.
And bio-plastics.
Poliform does not only make kitchens but also interior design. Here a nice setting with a new cabinet and we can absolutely see the colours of the year. Mustard yellow and terracotta red.
A cool feature at Poliform was this book case with shelves that glow in the dark.
More dark wood. Here an example for when we visited the stand of Boffi. No more white marble.
And finally th cool kitchen with industrial feel by Scavolini.
The whole team taking a wine break the VIP area of the fair.
